Great connections for the Invercargill CBD

Great South is excited to be increasing collaboration with Invercargill city centre retailers with Shru Shrivastava, the Invercargill City Council City Centre Coordinator, now at Great South on a secondment from Invercargill City Council.
With Great South focused on supporting local business growth and encouraging strategic conversations around destination promotion, the secondment allows for greater alignment between the services and support Great South offers in these areas and the goals of the City Centre Coordinator.
Shru will be based at the Great South office for the upcoming three months, working closely with our business services and events teams to attract people to the city centre, support local businesses with increasing their awareness of COVID-19 business relief fund, and coordinating events that will stimulate local expenditure and overall wellbeing.
Already, there are a number of exciting events planned for the coming months, including:
Halloween in the City
Saturday, 31 October, 10 am – 2 pm
Join City Centre retailers for a freaky treasure trail on Halloween! With a spooky passport for you to get stamped and prizes for the best costumes, it’s set to a frightfully fun day out!
Good as Gold day out
10th & 11th November 2020
A golden opportunity for gold card and gold card plus holders to engage in some Christmas shopping, sample food in the CBD and participate in an exclusive redevelopment tour hosted by Invercargill Central Limited. While transport will be provided to and from participating retirement homes, the day is open to all gold and gold plus car holders!
Christmas Market in the CBD
5 December 2020 – 10 am – 2 pm
Soak up the magic of Christmas with the City Centre Christmas Market. With stallholders, food truck vendors and the opportunity to engage in some Christmas shopping, it will be a wonderful day out.
