Southland Youth Futures

Employer Partnership Programme

The success of our various programmes supporting youth are based on the support of Murihiku Southland businesses.

Employers actively participate in the Southland Youth Futures Programme through various activities, including attending Career Speed Networking Events, speaking at schools, hosting workplace visits, and participating in Industry sector days.

Additionally, businesses can contribute to our Work Ready Passport programme, delivered to school students regionwide. Employers have the opportunity to serve as career role models, conduct mock interviews, and act as guest employers, all of which contribute to the success of the programme.

The programme has benefits to employers as well. Engaging with students is an opportunity for employers to:

  • Establish a connection and build relationships with the next generation of workers
  • Increase brand visibility and raise awareness among students. This can help attract talented individuals who may consider pursuing careers in their industry or organisation.
  • Showcase the unique aspects of their business and the exciting career opportunities they offer. This can help in attracting top talent and increasing the likelihood of students considering future employment with the company
  • Demonstrate a commitment to youth, which can enhance reputation and strengthen relationships with the community and stakeholders
  • Aligns with the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR), as employers actively contribute to the development and education of individuals. This involvement can positively impact the employer's reputation and demonstrate their commitment to social causes.

To support businesses, we run workshops with a focus on youth as part of the programme and facilitate connections with youth interested in their particular sector.

We encourage local employers and businesses to endorse youth-friendly standards in the workplace and encourage investment in Southland youth.
