Southlanders who urgently need assistance with access to essential household goods and services during the lockdown can contact Emergency Management Southland who is handling the region's welfare response. Learn more

Tools to support mental wellbeing

The Government is making further support available for Kiwis wanting to look after their mental wellbeing as a result of change and uncertainty from COVID-19. 

Three free online tools are now available:

  • the Mentemia app developed by All Blacks legend Sir John Kirwan. Learn more
  • a health journal app called Melon. Learn more
  • an e-therapy programme called Staying on Track. Learn more

Southland social and health service 

Based in Invercargill, the Nga Kete Matauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust delivers a range of services including addiction counselling, problem gambling counselling, disability support and advocacy, restorative justice, whanau ora, community nursing services. Learn more 

Rural Support Trusts 

The Rural Support Trusts can provide psychosocial support by talking over the phone or on skype/zoom during the lockdown. This includes connecting farming families with professionals for farming or business advice. Call 0800 787 245
