About the Role

Working within our tourism and events team, you will assist in developing, managing, and promoting South as a preferred visitor destination.  Are you ready for a challenging and fulfilling opportunity to shape the future of tourism in Southland?  This role will liaise with a variety of stakeholders, encouraging ideas and opportunities to become reality. 

This role works closely with the Destination Development Manager to implement projects from Southland’s regional destination strategy - a blueprint for the sustainable development of Southland as a visitor destination.  No two days will be the same and you will have different roles to play to deliver a diverse range of exciting projects.  You will be working in an inclusive and caring team culture which achieves great things for the Southland region, its people and place.

About You

You will ideally bring your experience of the tourism industry and product development to the team.  You will be highly organised, strategic, creative, and driven.  Possessing analytical skills and the ability to build and value relationships, strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities will be essential to drive projects forward. Experience in creating written and digital content would also be an advantage. 

This is a full-time role, however there may be some flexibility for the right candidate.

General Manager Finance, IT and Facilities

Great South, Southland’s regional development agency, is looking for a General Manager - Finance, IT and Facilities to lead its finance and accounting function.

Committed to driving economic, social and cultural growth, Great South has a mandate to leverage opportunities for Southland in the areas of economic and business development, tourism and events.

About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive, this is a critical leadership role, managing a small team and having overall responsibility for the financial management of the organisation. Providing strategic direction, administrative and financial advice, you will support the organisational vision and structure.

You will have skills across a full range of financial management competencies including financial reporting, preparation of statutory financial returns such as FBT and GST, compliance with accounting standards, cashflow and reserves management, and overseeing the audit. You will take ownership of the internal financial policies and procedures ensuring they are compliant, effective and well implemented.
This role also has additional responsibilities for IT and property/building maintenance.

About You
For success in this role you will have strong experience administering the finance function at a senior level within a commercial, not for profit organisation or in the public or local government sector. You will be practical and solution-focused with the ability to have financial conversations with non-financial people.  You will have the ability to positively engage, collaborate, build and maintain good relationships with a range of stakeholders, agencies and mana whenua.

Ideally you will be a qualified Chartered Accountant with experience leading a team and empowering them to achieve and contribute to the overall strategic vision of an organisation. You must be able to demonstrate strong personal integrity, a high level of energy drive and enthusiasm as well as a commitment to the Southland region.
