Regional Projects and Strategy Advisory - Fixed Term One Year

Great South is Southland’s regional development agency, and we are focused on creating even better lives through sustainable development for all that call Murihiku Southland home. 

The Regional Projects and Strategy Advisor is a new role to support the  implementation of projects and initiatives identified in Beyond 2025 – Southland’s Long-Term Plan and regional strategy that supports economic development.

About the Role

As the Regional Projects and Strategy Advisor, the position holder will support and champion opportunities for Murihiku Southland identified through the regional strategy. 

The role requires exceptional capability in project management which will be applied to strategic initiatives as they are implemented. The position holder is expected to identify external funding opportunities to support regional projects, as may be required. Funding opportunities may include: central government, local government, iwi, funding agencies, community groups and/or private investment.

This role will include the preparation of business cases and funding applications in partnership with multiple stakeholders and funders requiring  collaboration with shareholders, stakeholders, local and central government and with the wider community. The role will be responsible to prepare submissions that support advocacy of key issues for the region.

About You

You will have comprehensive knowledge and deep understanding of Murihiku Southland and how the region functions through its people, economy, and environment.

You will have proven ability and experience in preparing successful funding applications and business cases and will have the ability to use data and insights appropriately to support advocacy, business case development and strategic planning. 

You will competently manage multiple tasks and projects using excellent time management skills and project management methodologies. You will have exceptional communication, presentation, and report preparation skills with a proven track record to facilitate positive outcomes in a complex environment, with diverse stakeholders, and conflicting priorities.
