Event Capability Coordinator - Fixed Term (2 Years)

We are on the lookout for an outstanding Event Capability Coordinator to support the events sector, including the allocation of Regional Events Funding granted by Central Government, to attract visitors to the region.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Provide support to encourage excellence in event management in Southland.
  • Support sponsorship and funding processes for events held in Southland.
  • Support the development of events which share the Southland story and drive visitation to the region.
  • Assist in maximising the community well-being benefits of events including social, cultural, environmental, and economic considerations.
  • Administer and promote the digital regional events calendar at www.southlandnz.com and maintain a database of operators, industry contacts, event facilities and amenities.

Our ideal applicant will:

  • Have 2-3 years event management experience, or similar.
  • Have exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
  • Be super organised and be able to to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Be a great ambassador for Southland.

Generally, this position is Monday to Friday, but some flexibility is required due the nature of the work.

Fiordland Events Advisor - Fixed Term (2 Years)

We are on the lookout for an outstanding Events Advisor to support the Fiordland events sector, including the allocation of Regional Events Funding granted by Central Government, to attract visitors to the region.

** This role will be based in Te Anau.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Provide support to attract, develop and retain new events and conferences in the Fiordland area.
  • Provide event organisers advice and capability building resources regarding event development, marketing, and delivery.
  • Support sponsorship and funding processes for events held in Fiordland.

Our ideal applicant will:

  • Have 2-3 years event management experience, or similar.
  • Have exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
  • Be super organised and be able to to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Be a great ambassador for Fiordland.

Invercargill City Centre Coordinator

This role is situated at Great South and will work closely with Invercargill City Council, inner city businesses and retailers.

We are on the lookout for an outstanding City Centre Coordinator to provide city centre stakeholders with effective communication and event organisation.

Key responsibilities are:

  • To support development and coordination of opportunities and events which promote a positive, sustainable, and engaging city centre throughout the transition period.
  • Provide liaison between Great South, Invercargill City Council, businesses, and retailers.
  • Encourage collaboration to support city centre retailers/businesses and economic/regional development initiatives to achieve greater success.
  • Provide support to undertake impact assessments for events held in Invercargill.

Our ideal applicant will:

  • Have 2-3 years’ experience in a coordinator role or similar.
  • Have exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
  • Be super organised and be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Be a great ambassador for Invercargill city.

Generally, this position is Monday to Friday, but some flexibility is required due the nature of the work.
