Southland Youth Futures

Building employment pathways for youth across the Southland region.

2019 Business Survey now open

Your feedback shapes our business services and how we advocate for Southland business at a local and national level.

Bringing together schools, employers, training providers, industry organisations and government agencies, we help to strengthen the pathway between education and employment and improve outcomes for our young people in Southland.

Through hosting employer talks and coordinating workplace visits for students, we help young people and career advisors to realise the extent of training and employment opportunities available across Southland.

Along with highlighting the great career options available, we also encourage employers to invest in the region’s youth. This involves helping employers to adapt their recruiting and employment practices to target Southland youth and endorse youth friendly-standards in their workplace.

Over 50 businesses and organisations throughout the region have signed up to be part of our Employers Excellence model and in doing so are making plans to secure their future workforce.

By improving outcomes for Southland youth, we are helping to retain youth and talent in the region and counter Southland’s projected workforce shortage.
